Week 11: Beards are Beautiful!….

March 19, 2008
Beards are Beautiful!…right?
Well if not beautiful they are effective. Think of it this way:
  • Beards are ECOLOGICAL: As a group we’ve saved 18 gallons of water each day by not shaving, that’s 1,620 gallons for the three months of the competition!
  • Beards are HOLISTIC: With the added hair our body temperatures have been more stable and therefore so have our lives – we’re more balanced with beards.
  • Beards EMPOWER: Our teams win more games. That’s right with March Madness upon us, you’ll find that those with beards teams win more basketball games. Also known as the “playoff” beard, it exudes power, confidence, and a level of self-control that those who shave just don’t know about.
  • Beards make MONEY: well their supposed to! We’ve raised over $300 to date and looking to top out at $2500. We have a bit of way to go, but the answer is “growin’ in the wind”…Pledge your vote now! Thanks!

Week 9: Beards for Bread!

March 13, 2008

Trees, in their major growth period, put on what is called “good wood”. And like trees, the good beard is really coming in. Or is it?

Some of have chosen to trim or clip their beards, going for a shape category win. Others have chosen to clip their beards to not impair their social image – one even claims he’s saving his face pain by not letting his hair grow too long. Now, however, is time to separate the real beards from those fake girly-man things.

It is also time to gear-up for the finale! We are preparing our judging categories and enlisted judges. If you any thoughts about judging categories or are interested in being a judge please email Paul, paulc@mithun.com.

Thanks and always we are all in this for the bread! Please vote on your beard fellow now! That category is already figured out and we are looking to figure out who is the most money-winning-est amongst us.

Beards for Bread! Beards for Bread!

So word to the wise, hang in there. We passed our growing mid-point last week, so we are already over half way there! BUT! we are only at about 8% of fundraising goal. Check out our who is winning chart -

Week 5 – No Recession Here!

February 9, 2008

We’re talking about Growth baby! Growth! It’s not a question of growth / no growth. It’s about what do you want to grow – and for us it’s beards. And lots of it too. As you can see by the participants pics the beards are filling in nicely.  And by the chart below you can see that our coffer are starting to fill in, but not as fast as our beards. That’s where you come in! We need you to make a pledge to support a participant and support the organization they are growing for. Plus it’s fun too!  Thanks!  Team Beardoff

Thanks for all the great comments! Lots of participants reporting positive comments.

Right now we are at $40 total in the fundraising department…We could use your vote, right now!

Stay tuned, lots of great stuff in the works

2008 Beard Off Team

“Voting” elaborated

January 9, 2008

Growing for Good, what’s that all about?

The 2008 Beard Off is a fundraiser. Remember the Walk-a-thon from 6th grade? Or better yet, think of the Beard Off as a horse race…sorry bear with me for a second. You survey the field of racers, pick who you think it going to win and place your bet.

In this case your cash bet/donation is a “vote”, sorry no gambling here. By clicking on the participants picture your are transported to our “voting” department, aka Paypal, where you make a donation and help your man win. The participant with the highest tally of donations is the winner. There we be some other judging categories at the end, but the real deal winner is the one with the most donations.

Also, wanted to mention the means and methods behind our voting structure. Not wanting to burden non-profits with additional tasks, we’ve set up a funnel Paypal account that will hold all the funds donated until the end of the Beard Off. Then the funds will be dispersed to the individual organizations.

Thanks!

Welcome!

January 2, 2008

Welcome to the 2008 Beard Off! Where we’re growing hair for good.

We have a healthy grow of hair growers, each has chosen a non-profit to support. We will be growing our facial hair for three months – January 1st to March 31st (with a special treat on April 1st).

Which one will win? That is the big question and that’s where you come in. We need you to “vote” on who you think will win the race to grow their facial hair for good. Each “vote” dollar will be tallied for each Participant (see Participants page for a complete list) and the Grand Daddy fundraiser is the overall winner. There will also be a judging at the end for each category (see Categories page). We are in process of assembling a panel of judges.

Thanks for visiting and make sure you “vote”!
